SERIES OVERVIEW
HOP is a preschool comedy for 3-5 year olds that follows the adventures of Hop, a little frog with one leg shorter than the other, and his band of merry misfits as they play, laugh and learn in the quirky & comforting world of Fair City.
It is a show that strives to…
Embrace difference
Foster empathy
Encourage actions that make the world a better place to live in
… but it will not feel preachy or overly didactic. The young or adult viewer will be engaged by strong, empathetic characters, storylines with conflict and, above all, humor.
THE WORLD of HOP
What does the world of adults - with jobs, commerce, technology - look like from the POV of a child? What if a child could design that world? What would it be like?
The world of HOP gives the viewers fun, kid-relatable answers to those questions. The characters are all anthropomorphic animals (frogs, squirrels, owls, beavers…) who are neither children nor adults. They have the big emotions and wild imaginations of children, but they don’t go to school or have parents supervising their actions and behavior.
They have “jobs” - but they are the type of jobs that a child might imagine for the themselves - game-maker/snack-chef; toy-builder; professional clubhouse designer! The entire city feels like it could’ve been built by a child - with a tall apartment building rising up near a cozy house-boat, or an elaborate tree house with a view to a medieval castle on a hill.
In HOP, the characters don’t pretend to be pop singers, mountain climbers, firemen, or circus performers - they actually become them. The show is a child’s imagination made manifest, and there’s literally nothing our characters can’t do in this world. However, it doesn’t happen all by the wave of a magic wand; making their fantasies real takes effort, ingenuity and cooperation - and that’s all part of the fun of the stories. (And if Hop really really wants a magic wand, he can make that happen, too - but it might require growing a magic tree with the help of his friends first…)
